Cobian Crusaders - Rick J. Cobian
Donation protected
In memory of Rick J. Cobian and in lieu of flowers, the family is kindly requesting donations to the Cobian Crusaders GoFundMe to support their Pancreatic Cancer Action Network team's efforts to improve outcomes for all faced with this deadly disease.
Rick, age 65, passed away with family by his side on December 11, 2020 on the heels of a courageous three-year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He fought with great strength and determination to gain as much time as possible with his loving family. He was truly a cancer warrior in every aspect and an inspiration for those whose lives and hearts he touched.
Rick was born to Leslie and Joanne Cobian on November 23,1955. As a boy, he cherished summers in Bison, SD with his grandparents, time on the farm, horseback riding and playing baseball. He had a love for music and his drum set, enjoyed his winters on the slopes as a member of the ski patrol and treasured summer boating on the St. Croix with family and friends. As a 1973 Hastings High School graduate he was united in marriage with classmate, Jacqueline (Jaci) King, on August 27, 1977. Their love blessed them with three daughters, three admired son-in-laws and seven (and counting) wonderful grandchildren. Rick’s passion for the great outdoors founded Sundance Sports in his early days and led him to pursue his education and career in the area of Business before building a multi-decade strong career in the commercial cleaning and solutions industry. He greatly respected and was committed to his team at Tennant Company and his hard work ethic and dedication to his career was respectfully and admirably balanced with his personal life. He loved making special memories with his children and their families and believed that his grandchildren brought a whole new level of wonder, amazement and enrichment to his life. His hobbies and often most shared and joyous memories centered around fishing, golfing, hunting, boating, skiing, sports, card playing, traveling and spending time at his lake home with family and friends.
Rick was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, papa, and friend to many. He was a leader who provided purposeful direction. He challenged others to be their best selves and fought for what he believed in. He is credited with an endless passion to create memorable events, many of which became cherished traditions. His memories will live strong in the hearts of those he loved and his traditions will carry on.
Preceding Rick in death were his mother and father-in-law, Melvin and Elizabeth King and their daughter, Laurislie; his grandparents, Harry and Margaret Penor, and Frank and Regina Cobian. He is survived by his wife, Jaci; and children, Vanessa (Jason) Longnecker of Lakeland Shores, MN, Shelby (Michael) Ferry of Woodbury, MN, and Natalie (Tyler) Clemens of Lake Elmo, MN; his seven grandchildren, Zachary, Elaina, Davis, Joey, Nathan, Ricki and Thomas; parents, Leslie and Joanne Cobian; as well as his brothers and sister, Randy, Ronnie and Renee; close cousins, nephews, nieces and cherished godchildren.
