Cobe's Rehabilitation Fund
Unfortunately, my good friend Cobe is still in jail down in Florida. I've been speaking with his brother weekly for updates. It seems everything has been delayed with his trial, due to Covid...
He is an extremely intelligent and loving person who also struggles with Mental Health issues. He's been a core member of Team Pachamama, a non-profit focused on Social and Environmental changed, based in our hometown of PittsburghPA.
He left Pittsburgh to travel to Florida in February, pursuing work on a farm and also to enroll in Full Sail University. After several living options didn't work out, he was homeless on the streets. Then, Covid-19 hit, and made everything that much worse. His desperation mixed with Mental challenges led him to make some bad decisions and tried to steal an ATV from a construction site and got caught by police...
Also, I recently watch the documentary "13th" on Netflix, which explores the Prison Industrial Complex, Systemic Racism and Mass Incarceration, and I can't help but think about the INHUMANE conditions that people including Cobe have to endure in jail/prison.
The main photo for this Cobe depicts his love for being out in nature and harmonizing with the elements, which we would often do together. It pains me so much to know that he is cooped up in a concrete cage.
A group of us including his family are trying to figure out how we can speed up the process and make sure that he gets the Mental Health support he needs.
The money from this fundraiser will go towards supporting getting Cobe a lawyer to get the charges dropped and get him the Mental Health support that he needs. The money will also support Cobe's rehabilitation once he gets released from jail. This will include transportation from Florida and temporary housing as he gets re-situated in society. This will also include hiring a Holistic Psychotherapist that can give Cobe guidance and help him find balance between his Spiritual pursuits and his day-to-day tasks in society.
Please give what you can to help out Cobe. He is such an amazing human being, and with your support he can BOUNCE BACK from this challenging situation.
I put out the call for words of encouragement from our community and here are just a few of the many that came in, which I am sending to him in a letter, to help raise his spirits :
EmmaLee Simmons : Cobe, be strong. People are out here fighting for things to get better. I wish you all the love and happiness in the world now, and when you get out. Hold onto hope when u face ugliness, no one is perfect, but everyone can chose love. I love u
Faith Hersey : Stay strong Cobe! You've got a lot of people on your side, praying and watching out for you.
Charles Willis III : Every warrior must overcome obstacles, Cobe you have a remarkable spirit and you will make it through this stronger and smarter! You are loved and supported by your family and God, you are in our hearts and prayers.
Elisa Beck : Dear Cobe, you are a pillar of the Pittsburgh community and we are praying for your safe return home.
