On Saturday, September 12, 2015, the historic Valley Fire erupted in the mountain community of Cobb, in Lake County, CA. With virtually no notice, the residents had to flee for their lives. Some were out doing their weekend errands and were forbidden by first responders from returning to their homes, due to the intensity of the fire. Many pets were left stranded.

Shortly after the fire moved through, local volunteers began searching for lost cats, in an effort to reunite them with their frantic families. This group is known as the Cobb Cat Rescue.

Since then, our group has operated in the hardest hit neighborhoods of Cobb. Efforts have included hand captures, setting live traps at owner requests on their properties, establishing monitored feeding stations, and building custom cat shelters to provide cover from the elements. To date, we have found a number of cats, some of whom are with their grateful owners now. All services are FREE to these families.

With the onset of colder weather, we are desperate to get shelters in place for the cats that remain. Much of the burned area is being cleared, both of debris and trees, leaving very little refuge for the cats. Funding for these shelters and feeding stations is an immediate need, and we could use your support!

Please help us keep hope alive for the families who have lost everything and only wish to be reunited with their pets. Having these shelters and feeding stations in place vastly improves the odds of these remaining cats' survival and their rescue.
