My name is Declan Barbosa, and I am currently working on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Last year I volunteered at the Coastal Prairie Conservancy as part of my BSA requirements. I was truly inspired by their mission and decided on the spot that I would like to help them in a more meaningful way. The organization was formed in 1992 and has already conserved over 30,000 acres of endangered coastal prairie and wetlands. This helps preserve the biodiversity of our city, as well as increases flooding resiliency.

The official title of my project is ‘Advancing the cause of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy and rehabilitating a select area within the conservancy’. I have been working closely with the Coastal Prairie Conservancy as a final project to give back to the community and to help this great cause. I am helping the organization in 3 important ways:

• Organize to fully rehabilitate an area within the conservancy that has been degraded by invasive and unwanted planet species. We will do this over 2-3 days of work to firstly remove the unwanted species, and then to re-plant the area with the desired Native species of grass and flowers.

• I will start a social media campaign to highlight the wonderful work that this organization does. I hope that this helps raise the awareness of their mission to both increase their volunteers and their donors.

• Through this social media - I will also raise money for the organization using a Go Fund Me account. I will account for these funds and 100% of the raised money will go to the conservancy to offset the cost of my project (their nursery, plants and soil costs), any remaining funds will go to them to continue to advance their mission. I will keep strict accounts for this money.

I am writing this letter to ask if you would consider donating to help this cause. This money would go directly to the Coastal Prairie Conservancy, to cover the expenses of the prairie grass and wildflowers needed to rejuvenate the land, as well as tools used in the process. I have a goal to raise $1,900.
