Coastal Coffee Co: your loving third space in Kent, WA

Hello everyone,

My name is Kelsy, and I’m reaching out as the founder of Coastal Coffee Co here in Kent, WA. After spending nearly my entire adult life working in the espresso industry and managing a local cafe for 7 years, I finally took the leap this past year to start my own espresso business. If you’ve seen me at the Kent Farmers Market or one of my pop-ups this summer, you know how much love and passion I put into every cup.

But Coastal Coffee Co is about so much more than coffee. Living and working in Kent, I’ve seen firsthand how divided our community can be—especially when it comes to our homeless neighbors, who are often treated with cruelty and indifference. I dream of creating a true third space in our city: a welcoming, safe, and cozy spot for ALL people to come together, relax, and feel seen—no matter their background or circumstances. I want to use my cafe to support local small businesses, host community events like live music and paint & sips, and help those who are hungry or underprivileged.

Starting this business has already meant investing everything I have—my espresso machine, cart, and almost everything else I found secondhand. I’m currently struggling to keep up with bills, but my real goal now is to GROW Coastal Coffee Co into the warm, inclusive community space that Kent needs so badly.
