Coast to Coast: 140 Miles for Second Chance Headway
0% complete
£520 raised of
25 donations
On July 31st to August 2nd 2026, Antony and a team of friends, colleagues and clients are taking on the famous Coast to Coast (C2C) cycle route… 140 miles from the west coast of the Lake District all the way across the Pennines to Tynemouth/North Shields on the east coast, all in aid of Second Chance Headway Centre, Wakefield.
Why Second Chance?
Second Chance is a Wakefield charity with one simple mission: to improve life after brain injury. Founded at Pinderfields Hospital almost fifty years ago, it's the only full-time centre for adults with acquired brain injury in Yorkshire. Their team of clinicians, therapists and volunteers provide specialist rehabilitation, from individual therapy and independent living skills to support returning to work, as well as help and advice for families and friends. Their therapy centre relies entirely on charitable fundraising, so every pound raised makes a real difference.
This cause is personal for the team. Antony knows two people who Second Chance has helped rebuild their lives, and he's seen first-hand the difference their support makes.
This isn't the team's first challenge for Second Chance either… They previously completed a 2-hour cold water swim in Norway for the charity. The Second Chance team were brilliant throughout: supportive, involved, and genuinely invested in every fundraiser. That kind of encouragement and recognition means a lot, and it's why the lads are getting back in the saddle for them.
The challenge
140 miles. Two coasts. The Lake District fells and the Pennines in between. It'll be tough on the legs, but nothing compared to the challenges faced every day by people living with brain injury.
Every donation, big or small, goes directly to supporting people with brain injuries and their families across Wakefield and Yorkshire. Please give what you can, and share this page with anyone who might support the team.
Thank you from Antony and the whole team.
