Hurricane Harvey flooded the city of Houston and surrounding areas in what's being referred to as an 800-year event. There are countless humanitarian and relief organizations to give to - and I hope you do.
But if you want to help my friends and family, we need your help too. Les and Patsy Coalson, parents of Emily, Bryana, Krista, and Karen - were forced to evacuate their home and leave everything behind. They were stranded for hours while the water rose around them, eventually forcing them to wade deep into the water and climb aboard a dump truck, a boat, and multiple vehicles to make it to a shelter.
They are safe and dry, but they were not able to take anything with them and their home remains deep in water that will require enornmous repairs. Both retired, they are lucky to have so many wonderful family members in the area, but they will need all of our help to rebuild. Funds will go towards immediate disaster needs (clothing and supplies), as well as towards the damage to their home.
For those of us in the Bay Area, you already know we are an urban tribe - and like all of your families, the Coalsons are our extended tribe. Please give whatever you can and keep the Coalsons and everyone affected in our hearts and prayers.
