Coach Staggs' Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Chris Staggs (Coach Staggs) has been a dedicated, enthusiastic, and inspiring teacher, coach, and sponsor at Zachary High School for the last 19 years. He is best known for his lively, passionate instruction in his history classes. Coach Staggs has been the leader of the school's Homecoming fesitivities and the Student Government Association. Over the years, he has also lead his Mock Trial team to State numerous times and was the former Cross Country coach. Coach Staggs has two beautiful, intelligent daughters--one a Freshman at LSU and the other a Junior at Zachary High School.
On Sunday, April 30, 2017, Coach Staggs suffered a massive stroke. He is now completely paralyzed on his right side, both upper and lower body, and has aphasia. After being treated at Ochsner Hospital, he was relocated to the rehabilitation center at Baton Rouge Mid-City to work on minimum skills. He is expected to stay there approximately 10 days before being moved to the Neuromedical Center for more intensive therapy. It is possible that he will regain movement on his right side, as well as his speech. However, he has a long road ahead and a great deal of therapy.
Many of you have asked to help donate towards expenses, so we have set up this page to help Coach Staggs with his medical costs. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we help him on his journey to recovery. We all know Staggs--he is stubborn, passionate, and strong-willed: he will recover.
Thank you!
