Can you believe that is has been THREE YEARS since Coach Skip Parker was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer?!
Last year, many of YOU helped raise $12,423 to pay down Nan and Skip's existing medical debt. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Unfortunately, the reality is: bills keep piling up, Skip's medical needs change almost daily and Nan is now faced with the strong possibility of having to take a leave of absence from work to care for him.
Since last summer, there have been plenty of moments of hope with tremendous strides forward in Skip's health, but lately, it has been one step forward and 10 steps back. A side-effect of chemo is brittle bones which, combined with cancer spreading to Skip's spine, resulted in a broken back from him doing a simple act such as getting out of bed. Now he requires a special medical bed and regular at-home care: from a nurse, speech therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and nutritionist. Additionally since he can no longer do stairs, they are looking at transforming their garage into a downstairs bedroom with a bathroom, so that Skip can be comfortable in his own home.
These are just a few of the hurdles the Parker Family has been through in the last few months. Nan and the boys (Drew & Johnathan) have been doing more than anyone can probably imagine. They exhaust every effort to help Skip every day, and even though they wont ask for help, they could really use it!!
The future is unknown. While we all remain hopeful for Skip's recovery, his medical needs are very urgent and can't be met without your help. So, please, dig deep and lets come together to raise enough money for Nan and Skip so that they can focus on healing & family time. If you cannot donate at this time, we understand and very much appreciate your support through prayer and by sharing our story!
We are truly grateful for each and every one of you.
Love from our family to you and yours!!
