The Coach Rocky Nelson Scholarship Committee is seeking your help. Here's how you can join us!
Coach Rocky Nelson is coaching in his final football game on Thanksgiving morning (2016), against rival Winchester High School. Coach Nelson has been coaching football at Woburn High School for 46 years. In an effort to celebrate his dedication and service to the thousands of young men he has mentored, we will honor him with a retirement party on Saturday, January 7, 2017. The celebration will take place at the Woburn Elks, 295 Washington Street, Woburn, MA. from 6:30 to 10:30.
Although he has positively influenced many players and helped numerous families over the years, we want students of Woburn High School to benefit from his legacy for years to come. All the funds raised on this page will go towards the creation of the Coach Rocky Nelson Scholarship Fund. Our goal of $10, 000.00 will allow us to provide $500.00 per year to one student each year, for the next twenty years.
In the event we exceed our goal we will increase the amount of the scholarship we award each year. This will be a one-time fund raising effort and there will not be future fundraisers for this scholarship. If families, former players, and donors want to contribute to this scholarship at a later time, they may do so through a more specific process affiliated with this particular scholarship. The efforts of this page is to try and raise the initial $10,000.00
Our committee understands that this is a difficult time of the year to be raising money, but we also understand the importance of giving back to the students who need it most. Our mission is to reach the $10,000.00 milestone as soon as possible so we may prepare to give the first scholarship in June of 2017. Your contributions will help us in these efforts. Our committee thanks you in advance for any contribution you may be able to afford.
