Coach RobertK's Cancer Story
Donation protected
Hi my names Eunice and Robert is a close friend of mine. I met him about 5 years ago at the gym and getting to know him has been a pleasure. He's one of the most caring person I've known but not just to his friends but to his students and the other people around him. He's so genuine at heart and this is unfortunate happening in his life so young..
This is Robert's story: Robert is a 34 year old who works with children with autism, as well as a jiu-jitsu coach. He really cares for not only his students, but for the people around him as well; truly a remarkable man. As a young child, Robert was diagnosed with Falconi Anemia, which is known to mainly affect the bone marrow and slows down production of blood cells. Robert had to be treated with chemotherapy and radiation before undergoing bone marrow transplant to live. He was able to live a pretty normal life until recently, when he was unfortunately diagnosed with stage 2 bladder cancer.
Robert’s bladder cancer has been more on the aggressive side, which has led to him having to stop being able to be work with children and coach. He has already undergone several surgeries, and is now going to go through aggressive chemo. The chemo itself is a bit difficult due to his history with Falconi Anemia. This means that there is a chance the doctors may have to figure out a more personalized procedure for him. Robert is still going to have a couple of more procedures, one of which includes reconstructing his bladder from other organs. It isn’t possible to completely remove all the cancer from his bladder without causing even more harm, and this process will take about an year according to his doctors.
The money that will be raised will be to help his living and medical expenses, as well as other items he would need to help him through his cancer journey. We are appreciative of any donations, anything will help! Thank you so much!
