Coach Reese / TeamSol

Saladin Reese is the President of Team Sol Basketball; however, he is so much more. For over twenty years, Coach Reese has been a pillar in the DMV community as a mentor and leader for young women through coaching. Addittionally, Reese has been an advocate for women’s rights supporting Title IX, a civil right that prohibits sex discrimination in education and extracurricular activities.

       From coaching 3rd through 11th grade girls to organizing tournaments, he has helped instruct, guide and develop many young women through grade school and beyond.  In orchestrating tournaments, Coach Reese has been adamant about giving many girls from the DMV area a chance to play basketball and gain exposure for college and beyond. Among the many groups that Coach Reese has worked with some notable institutions include Calvin Coolidge High School, National Christian Academy, Riverdale Baptist Church league and the National Title IX conference.

    On April 20th, Coach Reese suffered a massive stroke! Since then, he has been recovering slowly. To continue on the road to recovery, Coach Reese has been moved to a long term rehabilitation center that is monitoring his progress. To assist with his personal financial obligations and those of Team Sol, the family is organizing a fundraiser to help ensure the girls can continue playing as we all know Coach Reese would want.

      On the weekend of July 13th and 14th. Team Sol will host a fundraiser filled with games, giveaways and food. Because Coach Reese has been such a pillar in the DMV community we want to not only honor him but also help him as he recovers.
