Coach Leonard Reed unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, June 20th. Coach Reed had just finished his 19th year as a teacher and a coach, and his 4th at Highland Park High School. Coach Reed was an assistant wrestling and football coach at Fort Worth Trimble Tech before coming to HP in 2013. Coach Reed served as a math teacher, assistant football coach and varsity assistant wrestling coach. Coach Reed graduated 5th in his class from Lyndsay High School in 1993 and earned All-State honors in football as an Offensive Lineman. In 1997, Coach Reed graduated with honors from East Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was also a member of East Central’s 1993 National Championship football team. Coach Reed has been married to his lovely wife Penne for 22 years and they have three wonderful children; Jame is in college, Alexis is an incoming senior and Trey (who is also a wrestler) just finished his freshman year at Euless Trinity. Penne Reed is a teacher at MacArthur High School in Irving. Coach Reed recently completed his Master’s Degree this spring in Mathematical Curriculum from UTA. Unfortunately, Coach Reed lost his mother earlier this year. Coach Reed has been an amazing asset to our community teaching and coaching our children with tireless enthusiasm, dedication and respect. Our hope is that the Park Cities, Euless, and Irving communities can all come together to help his family navigate this incredibly difficult time. Any and all donations are appreciated!
