Hi everyone,

Melanie or Coach Melanie (as many of her skaters know her) fell on the ice at practice last week and broke her hip, her femur and cracked her elbow. She underwent surgery on both her hip and elbow and is on a long road to recovery.

Melanie has been coaching power skating in Alberta and Saskatchewan for nearly 10 years, this is classified as self employment, therefore she unfortunately has no benefits, or workers coverage to support her during recovery.

Coach Melanie has impacted so many people in her life, she is always there as a mom, a coach and as a friend.

Melanie lives alone with her oldest dependent son whom she provides full time care for as well.

We are fundraising for her to help support her with paying her bills (as power skating was her main form of income and she is a 1 income household) as she will be unable to go back to work for quite some time. She will also need to pay out of pocket for physiotherapy and medical expenses in the coming months.

This will be a long road to recovery and financial stress is something we are hoping we can ease for her, so she can focus on getting better and getting back on her feet.
