Coach James Banks

Hello everyone, as many of you know we unexpectedly lost our beloved James "Jimmy" Banks. He was an amazing husband, father, grandpa, dog dad, friend, and baseball coach who touched so many lives in so many ways. Up to his last days despite battling an aggressive cancer, he made sure to still live each day to the fullest. James continued to love and care for his family and friends, and even continued to carryout his love for teaching all things baseball, it was a passion that not even cancer could stop. James went to Englewood Hospital for his weekly blood work and tests, where it was decided he needed to be admitted to the Emergency Room. Unfortunately while in the emergency room for a minimum of 7 hours and awaiting the staff to make a decision about his treatment plan his health rapidly declined. There was a perforation in his stomach, but due to the cancer, it was decided by the surgical team it was inoperable. He was given antibiotics and pain medication in hopes to close said perforation without surgery and limit the pain he was in, but all while receiving these medications, his sterile cavity was filling with fluid, which led to James coding in that very room. There were plenty of cries for help, requests for additional medical assistance and unfortunately these requests were ignored. As this was a major surprise to all of us, we now have to lay our beloved James to rest. We are asking for any form of assistance to help cover the costs of the funeral expenses. We appreciate all the kind messages filled with memories and condolences, and we hope you all can join us for the final goodbye. All funeral arrangements will be posted soon, thank you so much.
