Coach Henry's family, in memory of her mom, Lydia

Friends, colleagues, community members,

We, along with others who love LaTonya Henry have started a GoFundMe account to raise money to help offset the medical bills and funeral costs for her beloved mother, Lydia Floyd.  Mrs. Lydia lost her battle with diabetes, congestive heart failure, and ultimately COVID-19 on July 21st.  Her death was unexpected and devastating, and has left the family reeling.  The mounting costs accumulated over the last few weeks are astronomical, and I know many of us want to help.

Whether you know LaTonya (Tonya/T/Coach Henry) as a friend, family member, colleague, mentor, activist, athlete, teammate, teacher, or coach, we can all agree that she is family to us.  We are asking everyone in this extended family to pool together our financial resources to help the Henry/Floyd family with mounting medical and funeral costs.  

It's impossible for us to state what LaTonya has meant to us.  We won't try to speak on behalf of others (colleagues, students, friends, family), but we will say -- she is one of the most authentic, compassionate, intentional, courageous people we know.  Let's show up for her now -- let's lift up her family & let them know they are cared for ... that they are not alone in this.  Let's remind Coach Henry what she reminds her students every day ... that she is loved and supported.

EDITED TO ADD:  Holy moly, y'all!  We've raised the goal twice now because of your incredible generosity.  I heard this morning that Tonya's dad was moved to tears when he heard how people are showing up for him and his family.  He/They are so appreciative.
