We are raising money for Coach Mac's medical expenses, living expenses, treatment and recovery. Coach Boris McWashington is a wonderful human being, who gives his life,  energy, money, time, home and car  to help others but he truly is exception in the amount of time, money and effort he has spent helping the community especially children.  

He is affectionately called 'Coach Mac' by all who know him.  He has been a no-nonsense high school math teacher in South Florida for over 20 years and truly cares about the success of his students.  In his off-time he teaches night school and tutors  students in Math... many of them for free.  He also coaches high school basketball.  He has coached both boys and girls high school basketball in South Florida for over 20 years.  Inthe off-season, he coaches travel basketball and even started a non-profit basketball program with his own money.   He mentors these young people while developing their baskeball skills.  Many of these players were turned away by other coaches because they felt that they did not have anough talent.  Coach Mac has helped numerous children by paying their expense for basketball, giving players rides to & from games & practices, getting them into college, and at times even opening his home for disadvantaged children to live.  He has basically adopted and raised numerous children of in-laws, family members and even friends who were unable raise or care for their children themselves.  He works tirelessly to improve the community and the lives of others without recognition or reward.  He is the true definition of a GIVER.

A little over a month ago, Coach Mac felt ill and after a few days he chose to go to the hospital emergency room when a pain in his leg/hip became unbareable.  He was admitted to the hospital and after 3 weeks with many tests and preventative treatments but no answers, Coach Mac was told he had a viral infection.  He began a rigorous course of antibiotics and is improving but is still experiencing pain and will have a long journey to full recovery.  The illness has left him with a limited ability to walk or stand for a long period of time and reduced strength and range of motion in his right arm and leg.  He is currently in a rehabilitation center and is working towards independence and a return home; however, he will not be able to immediately return to his regular activities which include teaching during the day, teaching night school in the evening and tutoring in the evening & on weekends, as well as coaching basketball.  Coach Mac will soon use up all of his remaining Paid Time Off (PTO) and has already tapped his emergency fund to cover his regular expenses and mounting bills.  

Coach Mac is loved by many! and has unselfishly helped numerous adults and children thoughout his life.  A donation of anything at all, large or small, would be greatly appreciated and will be put to good use, since he will be unable to work and is out of paid leave time.
