Laura’s Cancer Battle

My name is Terrence Lamb, I am reaching out because about 4 months ago, our family received the devastating news that our mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer. After a couple doctor visits and tests, they determined that it is stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma.  
The doctors are optimistic, however: there is still a long way to go with the treatments and care. She has so far undergone three chemotherapy sessions with one more to go tomorrow, whereby after that she will undergo surgery to remove the node, and later on 15 more rounds of radiation.
She works as a dietary cook at our local hospital, and unfortunately her doctor has ordered her not to continue working due to the location of her employment, and how compromised her immune system is right now. Her last day of work was the beginning of April. Since she has had to leave work and start this fight she has been trying to get short term disability which is a battle in itself and has not happened yet. To date out of pocket in just medical bills, she has paid $8100.00 in deductibles and what insurance will not cover. She has almost exhausted her saving hoping the short-term disability will kick in once approved . although we are not sure she will will even to get accepted. With her upcoming surgery and radiations, she will have 3 weeks of hotel stays and surgery costs, together with a reset of deductibles as of July 1st of $8100 again. Following that will be more post-surgery appointments and checkups that will add to the costs.

It is as a result that I have created this GoFundMe profile, to help us with the rest of the costs. Our Mom is the definition of selfless, loving and caring. She has raised 4 kids and has always been the rock for our family. She has 3 grandkids of ages 1,2, and 4 that she spoils with love and too many treats. She always puts everyone else’s needs in front of her own, that is also among the reasons why I am making this fundraiser. She is the first to help others, but the last to ask for help in return.
My family and I are asking for help in hopes of raising money to help with her medical expenses, travel for treatments, and any household bills if it becomes necessary.
