Support John ‘Barrack’ Murphy's Journey in the Marathon des Sables for Cnuicin Rowing Club

On April 6, 2025, I will embark on the incredible challenge of the Marathon des Sables (MDS), often referred to as the world's toughest footrace. This gruelling ultramarathon takes place in the southern Moroccan Sahara and involves running a staggering 250km over six stages, all while carrying my own supplies. It’s a test of endurance, resilience, and determination.

While I am personally funding the entire cost of this journey, I am also using this opportunity to raise vital funds for a cause that is close to my heart: rebuilding the Cnuicin Rowing Club boat house in Portmagee. Our club is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of seine boat rowing, a unique tradition in the South-Mid Kerry region. We are currently working to rebuild our boat shed to house our traditional seine boat and four-oar timber boats, ensuring that this cherished sport continues to thrive for future generations.

The Cnuicin Rowing Club has seen a resurgence in interest over the past few years, successfully fielding crews for local regattas. However, to sustain this momentum and inspire the next generation of rowers, we need your support.
