This is Barbara McKinney, but many of you know her as Joan, and some know her as the tax lady from H&R Block, where she managed for 30 plus years before having to retire due to her health. To her family, she is known as the glue that holds us all together. She is a mom of 3, grandmother of 12, and great-grandmother to 8, with 1 on the way.

In 2023, she was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the lungs. Thankfully, in 2024, she was in remission after radiation. Unfortunately, our happy ending was short-lived, and she was diagnosed with a very aggressive triple-negative breast cancer. Thankfully, her prognosis is good with chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and possibly immunotherapy. We were all set to start chemotherapy Wednesday, 9/17, until we received a call today that she will have to pay $1,900.00 out of pocket before each round of chemo. She will have to have at least 4 rounds of chemotherapy. Sadly, the doctor's office has pushed back her chemotherapy until we can find the resources to pay the out-of-pocket cost. With this aggressive, fast-spreading cancer, this could be devastating to her prognosis.

Anyone who knows her is well aware she would never ask for help; she is the person everyone goes to for help. So I am asking for her. No one should have to suffer because they can’t afford healthcare. Any donations, shares, and prayers would be greatly appreciated.
