MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A busy southwest Memphis road became the backdrop of a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a mother of three.
“They took her. They took a good person. He took my baby girl. I’m going to miss her.”
Family told WREG’s Jerrita Patterson Tanesha McFadgon was the victim of the overnight shooting. Her godmother, Kathy Jackson, said the family is now struggling to make sense of a senseless crime.
“When I got up here, I could see the car, but I couldn’t see her. But I knew she was in there. They didn’t have to take her.”
Officers were called to 5015 Horn Lake Road before 3 a.m. Friday after a man reported hearing gunshots. When first responders arrived they found Tanesha dead on the scene.
Her family said the gunman not only took her life, but destroyed the lives of her three young children who are now motherless.
“My heart just dropped. It dropped. I got up out of the bed, I couldn’t say anything I was just speechless.”
