Dearest Friends and Family,
There is a warrior I know who needs our support! He is fighting the biggest battle of his life. My brother Layne received a hard to digest diagnosis in November 2018. He found out he has renal cell carcinoma. He is 43 and he is truly one of the most amazing humans I know. He is going to fight it and kick it out of the park but he needs our help in order to do that.
BACKGROUND:
In November of 2018, my brother Layne was touring across Canada with a Canadian comedian when he experienced some pain and noticed a considerable amount of blood in his urine. What was initially believed to be a kidney stone ended up being a tumour at the base of his right kidney, which was 11x10x13 cm in size. It was also determined that it had spread to his left adrenal gland. Layne underwent surgery on December 17, 2018, where they successfully removed both his right kidney and his left adrenal gland. After a follow-up CT scan, additional spots on his lungs were discovered. A couple of nodules in his lungs had grown from 3 mm to 7 mm. A follow up CT scan is scheduled for April 2019.
THE PLAN:
Layne has been researching and seeking out alternative therapies at Sanoviv (located in Mexico) or at the Issels Immuno-Oncology therapy center located in Santa Barbara, USA. The traditional western method of attacking the cancer is ineffective as renal cell carcinoma does not react to chemotherapy or radiation. Alternative treatment is his best chance to treat this cancer.
Option 1-Sanoviv
Sanoviv is a U.S. run alternative healing centre with an incredible track record of results with various cancers, including renal cell carcinoma. The treatment would cost $1500 per day. The doctors estimate 2 to 3 weeks of treatments would be required putting the total around
$21 000-$31 500 U.S. dollars. www.sanoviv.com
Option 2-Issels Immuno-Oncology
"The autologous Dendritic Cell Cancer Vaccine, the Lymphokine-Activated killer cells and Activated Natural Killer Cells, including home care supply of Autologous Cytokines or Coley's mixed bacterial vaccine for 5 months amounts to $22 000." This does not include a 5 day in-patient treatment administered in Tijuana, Mexico at $5830 USD. As well as, a week in Santa Barbara estimated at $10 000 for the week. Total: $37 830
PLEASE HELP....
All of the funds raised will go directly to support Layne on his healing journey. The reality is that Layne's is currently unable to work. And due to the nature of his previous contract work he has done, he is unable to receive any monetary support through EI. We are hopeful that enough money will be raised so that Layne can seek the alternative cancer therapy through the institutes stated above.
Bottom line is that my brother is an amazing person, a great soul with a huge heart. His smile and sense of humour are a foundation in our family. Layne is an extraordinary uncle to all of his nieces and nephews and, of course, the best brother a girl could ask for. He has always been one to put everyone's needs above his own. Life is not fair.....I get that. But please give him a chance to stop the growth of this cancer so that it can be managed and healed. We are truly grateful to you for taking the time to read this. PLEASE consider donating to Layne's fight for his life.
