Janet’s fight against cancer

On May 25th 2022, a very important person in our lives, Janet Stoddard (my stepmom), was diagnosed with stage 4 abdominal cancer. This has been an extremely difficult and heart wrenching time for our family. Janet has been in the hospital all but a couple weeks since her diagnosis in May.
Janet’s treatment has been a long and difficult process. After having surgery and following up with chemotherapy, we did not get the results we were hoping for. Janet still has a blockage in her intestines that requires her to stay in the hospital for nutrition while they are trying a different type of chemotherapy treatment. While we are optimistic that we will find a treatment that will shrink the blockage allowing her to eat normally, Janet’s situation still requires her to remain in the hospital.
Since Janet has not been out of the hospital, once her FMLA ended, her employer decided to term her even after 32 dedicated years. This included her losing her insurance. Time spent that should have been spent healing and resting, has been spent trying to figure out insurance and expenses.This has also left Janet and Paul relying on Paul's income alone.With the mounting medical bills, deductibles, and the cost of travel for Paul going to and from the hospital,they are finding the expenses overwhelming. Our hope during this difficult time is to bring Janet home, and when that time comes there will be even more expenses to be considered.
If you know Janet, you know she is the most kind hearted, selfless, caring person you will ever meet. Janet is a fighter, she has been strong and resilient throughout this entire ordeal and continues to fight for her life every day.Our goal is to raise this money to offset some of the expenses that are accruing and to provide some relief from these financial difficulties.
