Support For A Survivor
Donation protected
We are starting a fundraiser for our dear friend, Johnny Ericksen, who has been battling brain cancer for almost 30 years. Johnny is the definition of a survivor; he has been fighting this disease for over half of his life, while somehow never once losing his contagious smile, positive attitude, and determination to help others in similar situations.
Within the past weeks, there has unfortunately been a relapse in Johnny's condition, causing him to be in and out of the hospital. These have obviously been trying times for the beloved Ericksen family. Although they are too selfless to ever ask for help themselves, we all know that financially medical emergencies can take a huge toll on families who are already dealing with more than they ever should have to.
Let us take this time to reflect on all the Ericksen family has done for us, for our community. Not only have they brought an unimaginable amount of light into all of our lives by being the most cheerful, kind-hearted, loyal friends we'll ever have the honor of knowing. But they also have single-handedly started the annual Johnny Open Golf Tournament Fundraiser (running for 8 years now) where they raise money for a different family each year that is affected by brain cancer. In the first 4 years alone, the tournament raised nearly $40,000 for these deserving families. I don't have the statistics on what has been raised the last 4 years, but I do know that it's been even more successful with each new year so you do the math!
Johnny Ericksen, despite the many obstacles thrown at him, was able to create something that helped so many families during the most trying period of their lives. In his almost 30 year battle, he never once has asked us for help. So now, it's time for us to step up to the plate and ease some of the pain Johnny and the Ericksen's are enduring. Let's lighten the load a bit for an extremely compassionate, heroic family.
The Ericksen's are not aware that we've started this GoFundMe, but as close family friends we can see that they could use a miracle right now. Let's each donate as much as we can, whether it's $5 or $100+, anything will help. They are paying for medical bills, and many other expenses that have been incurred from their current situation. We are not going too in depth on what's going on because it is up to their family to disclose what they want, so please respect their privacy at this time and have faith in the fact that your generosity will be helping this family immensely.
