This is Gabriel.
Just four months back, before the accident. He's standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial, respectfully paying homage to our great nation in Washington, D.C.

This is Gabriel after the accident.

It's a miracle Gabriel is still with us.
How It Happened
Gabriel works for a solar panel company. His job typically requires 12+ hours every day under the beat-red, grueling Florida sun. He typically comes home with a bright-red sunburn. He was making decent money, getting ready to study to become an engineer. Gabriel lives with and financially helps support his mother and grandmother, as well as about a dozen pets (birds, guinea pigs and rabbits). Life was going pretty well for Gabriel.
Everything changed for Gabriel on June 9th, 2020.
While at a routine visit to a customer to install solar panels, something terrible happened. The client failed to mention he has a slick substance placed on his roof to deflect rain. There is a special protocol to installing solar panels in these cases. As Gabriel and his crew were not informed of this, they proceeded to climb up to the roof like any other day. Unaware of the roof problem, Gabriel slips from the roof and lands flat on his face. Had Gabriel landed on his back, or on either of his sides, he would be dead. It is by the grace of God that Gabriel is still among us.
When Gabriel awakened in the hospital, he had no idea what happened. He lost all memory of the incident for some time after waking up.
Blood in his lungs.
Broken jaw, split lip.
Lost teeth.
Blood in his kidneys.
Broken nose.
Needs surgery.
Gabriel's life truly is a miracle. But now he has to face the unfortunate truth about his situation.
Gabriel cannot work in his condition. He supports his mother and grandmother, as well as his girlfriend of three years. Gabriel earned a modest salary before, but now that's gone.
Coupled with the insurmountable medical bills that will surely come from his hospital stays and treatments, Gabriel's hopes of advancing in his life will be severely stunted.
Gabriel is the innocent victim of a freak accident. One accident should not mean the end of your chances in life. Please, if you can find it in your heart to just donate anything possible, even one dollar helps. I understand these are extremely tough times for everyone. Imagine following off a roof on top of everything else that is happening. Thank you so much for your support. Gabriel and his family thank you profusely for everything.
About Gabriel
Gabriel's family is originally from the island of Cuba, our neighbor to the south. His grandmother, who was already here in Miami, Florida, was able to start the process to bring Gabriel and his mother here in 2010. It took three years for the process to be complete, and Gabriel and his mother arrived here in 2013 when Gabriel was 18.
Gabriel is a strong, hard-working young man. He works long days installing solar panels for residential and commercial buildings. At night he drives roughly an hour north to visit and help his girlfriend and her family however he can. Then he returns home, crashes, and repeats it all the next day. You will rarely find Gabriel relaxing. He is always hard at work.
If I had to pick one word to describe Gabriel, it would be "good". He is truly a good person, something that unfortunately is becoming rarer with each passing day. I have never once seem him think of himself before someone else. His girlfriend, mother, and grandmother are his top priorities. He is also so good to his girlfriend's family and to me. He helps without asking and never asks for a dime in return. He helps because he cares about you. This class of person is so rare and what he's going through right now is so unfortunate.
Gabriel works long days and saves whatever he can. He has big dreams for his future and for the future he will share with his girlfriend Rebeca. Now is his severely set back in his life due to a random freak accident.
Gabriel's long path to recovery has just begun. Again, every dollar helps. Thank you so much for your support.
To get the fundraising started, I will personally be making a $500 donation. You do not have to give the same; even $5 will help Gabriel immensely.
P.S.
I will determine an estimate of the total cost of his medical bills as soon as possible.
