Hi my name is Jody, I met my fiance almost 2 years ago and what a journey we have been on.
My fiance is Simon Scott, served for 8 years in the coldstream guards.
After the birth of his first son, Simon decided he wanted to be at home. This is when his close family new he was unwell and was diagnosed with extreme ptsd.
His family home broke down and he found himself living on the streets, this is when his mental health hit rock bottom and he attempted suicide which left him in a coma for 8 days being brought out of the coma he was then told his lungs had formed blood clots and needed surgery to remove them. All of this he faced on his own. The Royal British legion got in touch and found him a place to live, he then was placed with a mental health team which he saw once a week to help him talk about his time in Afghanistan.
The next 6 months was spent in and out of hospital with self harm and unable to cope with life.
Simon was then struck down with a major heart attack, being told that he had heart failure which was passed down by his father who unfortunately passed away suddenly due to the disease a few months prior to Simons 1st heart attack. Now he was faced with an even bigger battle.
Simon and I met on Facebook dating, mainly someone to talk to, but we fell for one another straight away and his Journey then became mine too.
Since meeting Simon the hospital felt abit like a 2nd home, 8 more heart attacks followed and other appointments with Cardology, and he was also diagnosed with bowel cancer, so we spend our first Christmas eve at the hospital having his first Chemo, which he smashed through.
I decided to only work 2 days a week so i could be his registered carer, attend hospital appointment, pick up his medication, even trips to the supermarket, he needed me by his side due to his anxiety, depression & hypervisilant.
Simon always said to me he would only marry once, and a few months later he was on one knee proposing to me ♥️ of course I said yes.
We have set the date for August 2026, he didn't want to wait to long as every visit to cardiology, he was told his heart was getting weaker.
Simon is also unable to work so trying to pay for a wedding is a real struggle, especially as we only have 7 months.
We are only having a small wedding but I just want it to be the most special day and one to remember.
Simon and myself know we don't have years together so everyday is a blessing and I want to make his dream come true, and mine which is to become his wife.
Thank-you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this and if you are able to help us in anyway, it would make our dream come true.
