Hello. I’ve never done this before, and couldn’t picture ever needing to, but life can throw you some unexpected curves. My 34 yr old niece was diagnosed a week ago with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She had not been feeling well for months, but nobody could pinpoint the problem. She finally had a lot of blood work done, and this was the diagnosis. It is aggressive, and requires immediate, and ongoing, treatment. It has been a shock to my family, and devastating to my niece. This diagnosis will require an entire lifestyle change, some of them very restrictive. For starters, she will be hospitalized for at least another month, after which, she will need to have a bone marrow transplant. After the surgery, she will essentially need to be home bound for 1 year, in order to minimize risk to her compromised immune system. The financial implications of all of this are very real, and very scary. Insurance will pick up a lot of it, but there will also be huge gaps that will not be covered, in addition to the loss of her full time income (long term disability will only pay a portion of her salary). With this said, I have set up this Gofundme to help offset the myriad of expenses she will face. Any and all help would be most graciously appreciated, and even if you could just share the link, that would be great. Thank you in advance for reading, sharing, and caring.
