I’m starting this go fund me page because in May I will be having my second open heart surgery. They will be replacing my mechanical valve that’s leaking and blocked. It’s been 10 years since my last open heart and my life situation is much different. I’m away from family and friends, I’m married now living in Florida and have a son (5) and a step daughter (11). I am unable to work due to my health issues and my husband is the provider. From my past experience recovery is a long, hard journey for all involved.
Let me give you a little bit of my background. In 2009 I woke up from a sound sleep with agonizing chest pains only to be sent home from the hospital with what they thought was anxiety. Eventually after a few weeks this pain subsided and I went on with my life. Little did I know I had an aortic dissection/aneurysm. Some time had gone by and I had a routine Dr visit. He suggested I get a stress test because I had a murmur. Long story short I went for my stress test and the next thing I knew I was being airlifted to Yale New Haven hospital to have open heart surgery. The Drs all called me a “walking miracle” because about 20% of patients with a dissection die before reaching the hospital. I only survived this circumstance because of my belief and faith in God. He is the one who kept me alive and put me in the hands of a wonderful surgeon with God-given talents.
Last year we discovered that I carry a gene called prkg1 and this is why I had a aortic dissection. We also discovered my son has the same gene. He has a slightly enlarged aorta and is being watched closely and taking blood pressure medication.
I ask if this touches your heart would you please donate and help my family and I during this difficult time. My husband will not be working for at least two months. Since he will not be working health coverage still needs to be paid to keep it active along with everything else. He will be my sole caretaker along with all the responsibilities of caring for our children and home. Being prepared financially will be a weight lifted off our shoulders during recovery.
The money will be used for any medical bills, healthcare coverage, mortgage etc. Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this! God bless!
