Whether you know Tim Fading as The Timonator from Beaumont, a fishing buddy from CCA, a talented two-stepper at the Broken Spoke or a guy who gets a-round (just like a doughnut) to Austin's best music scenes, Tim Fading is a legend in the Friendship Hall of Fame. Tim would do anything for a friend in need and is constantly attending fundraisers or organizing them himself, to help out others. Now, he needs us.
On June 27th, Tim checked into Austin Heart Hospital for cardio angiogram and stent. That procedure was stopped when the Cardiologist determined Tim’s blockage was too extensive and recommended a triple bypass. Tim went in on Monday, July 1stfor open heart surgery and, being the overachiever he is, ended up with a quintuple bypass! Tim is very fortunate to have the blockages cleared before having a heart attack.
As you probably know, for 21 years Tim has been battling kidney cancer. It’s currently in it’s 4threoccourence. There is no cure, but Tim is taking a daily chemotherapy which has kept the growth of the tumors in check so far. Annual CT scans are required to monitor that growth and determine when additional treatments might be needed.
Tim has a high risk insurance plan which helps but, deductibles and out-of-pocket are very high and coverage is inadequete. Coupled with the fact that his storm chasing, roofing work has been almost non-existent this year. We know Tim as our funny, loyal and endearing friend who's always there when we need him. This is our opportunity to be there for him.
