My name is Christopher J. McGowen. I'm a 45-year-old man from New Waverly, TX. Recently, in the past 5 years, my estranged wife and I have had multiple series of unfortunate events that paved the way for me ultimately having to write an introduction letter for a GoFundMe account.

For the past 2 years, my estranged wife and I have been suffering multiple series of unfortunate, unexplainable events.

From near-death experiences, like the illness hypoxemic respiratory failure, in which I've been hospitalized 4 different separate times since December 6, 2024. During my near-death experience, I lost a member and the way to take care of myself and the ability to work as hard as I used to. As I mentioned earlier, since December of 2024, I have been hospitalized on 4 separate occasions for hypoxemic respiratory failure. This last hospital visit a couple of days ago was the worst, where they diagnosed me with heart failure. You're probably saying to yourself, why doesn't he get on disability or Social Security? The simple reason is, it's not like I haven't tried. I've tried on multiple occasions, in many different ways, and many different times. At this time, I'm 45, not old enough for my Social Security, and not in enough danger of death or nearly in enough pain to qualify for disability. I guess my pain doesn't register for my 2nd oldest son dying earlier last year in January 2025, in a seemingly innocent accident, except for it being a "hit and run," leaving my son to die on the Texas highway pavement. Which neither my estranged wife nor I have even started to think about getting over or even finding a good balance yet.

During my detailed introduction letter, I failed to mention one of the most important reasons for writing a letter to strangers, determiners, friends, family, judges, and counselors. My estranged wife has schizoaffective disorder, which really puts the capital N in negative. This one main factor has negatively affected my family for the last 10 years or so. But, here recently, in the last 5 years, this has been where the progression of the disorder has sped up, lowering cognitive levels of thinking and abilities for my dear unfortunate friend and wife. I myself, well, I'm also in a dire condition. Currently, I'm living outside in a tent in my family's garage. My estranged wife does get a small Social Security check each month, but it's not nearly enough to cover the cost of living. At this moment, she lives in an old beat-up car on her family's land in a small town right outside of Conroe, Texas. We both need a miracle to help come through for us.

I was thinking maybe enough to pay some bills, hospitalization bills, and some debt, and help get my estranged wife some therapy, providership help, assistance in living, and maybe enough help to get her a nice place to stay and call home, the proper counseling for her mental healthcare, and the services she would need. I also would need some help with living arrangements, like a place to stay to get healthy as well. This is in order to help someone else as well.
