As you guys know, my little brother was experiencing pains in his chest and was taken to see his pediatrician. She felt it was best to take him for an X-ray, and when they did they found a mass. He was immediately sent to Nationwide Children’s. After a ton of bloodwork and a CT scan they admitted him to the Oncology floor. Friday morning they did a biopsy on the mass so they can get a better understanding of what they are dealing with. Once the results come back in Monday, they will be starting treatment quickly. The oncologist is certain that they are dealing with some form of sarcoma. He goes in Tuesday for an EKG and echo, which is needed because the chemotherapy drug he will be receiving can cause damage to his heart muscles, so they need a baseline. He will also be getting a PET scan to see how “hot” the tumor is and to ensure it is the only one they are dealing with. We are all having trouble processing this news, but ask for prayers/good thoughts.
Update: He was diagnosed with a very rare cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. He will start his chemo treatments on Wednesday
