Since a fall from a playground swing sent Hollis to Lutheran General on April 19th, the Shutts have been overwhelmed with support from colleagues, friends, and families. Countless people have been generous with their prayers, actions, and monetary gifts.

 

Although Judd has communicated with me that they feel like their community has already been too generous, on a daily basis people continue to reach out and ask what they can do. This GoFundMe page is being created for Hollis as a direct way to collect additional funds from those of you who want to show your support for Hollis and their family.

 

MacKenzie and Judd have spent the last two weeks with Hollis in the hospital in order to communicate with the medical team and support their daughter as she underwent skull surgery, endured many respiratory treatments, and begun physical, occupational, and speech therapy. This could not have been possible without the support of their wonderful community of friends.

 

When Hollis is approved to leave Lutheran General she will be transferred to a pediatric rehabilitation hospital to receive treatment to begin to regain physical functioning of limbs impacted by the trauma. Doctors predict this stay will last around 3 weeks. Finally, she will transition home and receive outpatient care for an additional period of time.

 

The Shutts will use any donated funds to help support Hollis during her rehabilitation. It isn’t possible to predict the financial impact that the numerous different hospital stays will have on the Shutts. If excess funds remain MacKenzie and Judd will pay them forward to another family in need.

 

So many people have already supported Hollis and the Shutts both monetarily and through action. This page is not a request for those people to do more, but simply an opportunity to consolidate support from those who still wish to give.
