Clyde was admitted to the hospital on Monday 11/19 after being found unconscious in his house. On Thanksgiving morning we received a call that his condition had become grave and advised to expect the worst.
All the siblings and his son rushed to the hospital. Much debate for his best care ensued. After serious prayerful consideration a decision was made to move him, by ambulance, to a different hospital. He was in very grave condition and we did not have any expectations of recovery.
Within moments of a surgeon seeing Clyde in Amarillo he was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis (skin eating disease). They took him into surgery immediately and began removing the diseased tissue in his leg that was moving up and into his abdomen in order to save his life and hopefully at least part of his leg. As of 12/1 he has undergone 3 surgeries. To further complicate matters he developed pneumonia requiring him to remain on a vent.
Through prayer and Gods intervention it now looks like he will keep his leg, baring any set backs and has been removed from the vent. Due to the extent of the damage to his leg he will require many more surgeries and extensive therapy.
The cost for his care will he astronomical and much of it will not be covered by insurance. Any amount you can help with is appreciated and if circumstances do not allow you to help - we would appreciate your prayers.
