Sligo general hospital physio department

Maisie was born on the 13th October 2020 with bilateral talipes - also known as clubfoot.

At 8 days old her treatment began and she was put into full leg casts, every Wednesday her feet were stretched and a new cast was put on.

In December she had a tenotomy (a small surgery to release the achilles tendon ). Since then she's had a brace between her feet to stop them from turning in. The boots and bar had to be worn for 23 hours a day for 3 months.

Currently she has to wear the boots and bar only at night for 12 hours and this will be her treatment until she is 4, whilst receiving physiotherapy.

We cannot put into words how grateful we are to all of the people involved in her treatment, we couldn't fault their care.

We want to be able to give something back - at present there is no paediatric physiotherapy area in Sligo University Hospital despite it providing physio services to children of all ages.

We'd like to raise some money for a child friendly area to be installed. Somewhere bright and happy so it doesn't feel as clinical for all of the young kids needing treatment.
