Club 1871

One of our goals last season was to try and improve the atmosphere at the Madejski stadium through new songs and displays. We feel we made real strides in that department, but we need your help to push further

We are fully fan led, and as such all funding comes directly from the fans. We want to keep this movement going and put on bigger displays which reflect our history, our best players, and really anything that represents the Reading FC ethos


We have set a target of £2500 which is higher than our initial pitch last year, but we’ve done this for a few reasons:

- Displays - Displays are expensive (more than we initially realised). Our Club 1871 flag cost around £1200. We want to have a much bigger scope for what we can achieve this year, and that will cost more money

- Flags - For Portugal day, we created the 'Obrigado José' flag (materials and paint cost around £60), and purchased a number of Portugal national flags.  We also bought various Reading coloured flags throughout the season (one for Steve Coppell, one of José Gomes etc.) and these do add up over the season

- Fan input – We want fans painting and putting together their own flags, banners and more, and we want to support it!  If you have a good idea for something that will improve the matchday experience for everyone, we want to help make it happen

- Drum - Our drum was stolen towards the end of last season, so that will need to be replaced.  The drum we purchased last year was around £40, but we are hoping to get a more expensive and better sounding drum this year


To be clear all money raised here will go directly into displays, spread throughout the season. We also invite fans to offer input and feedback, to keep improving the stand

Despite a really positive end to the season, we really hope you see this as an opportunity to further improve the look of the stadium, and really back the team. More importantly, we hope you see this as a chance to get behind something that the fans can really be proud of.
