Support Clover & Jasper - Betty & Theo's passing

Betty Saum and Theo Stieve were the vibrant, creative, loving parents of Clover and Jasper. They tragically passed away within 2 months of each other - both just 58. On the day before the memorial art show for Theo Stieve’s life’s work, Clover and Jasper abruptly found out that Betty had just died in her home - having accidentally fallen down the stairs. Clover and Jasper are in deep grief and shock. It’s all still so hard to believe.

Betty and Theo were loved by many. Previously owners of Passiflora in Lambertville, exuberant parents to Clover and Jasper, lifelong artists and quite simply magical people who loved Jasper and Clover more than anything. Theo aka PirateJazz was a thriving DJ, a poet, and a creative genius at turning junk into beauty. Betty was beaming with light - a florist (or as she called it “florager”), a painter, a lover of nature, and a passionate entrepreneur - the momma of the Hawk & Floret store in Frenchtown.

Betty and Theo raised Jasper and Clover in a house of love, where anything was possible creatively. Unfortunately, it was also a difficult home to grow up in, with both Theo and Betty struggling with addiction.

Betty and Theo were not in a stable place financially when they left us. Clover and Jasper had been supporting themselves for a long time in Brooklyn and Jasper is living paycheck to paycheck.

We are raising money to help Jasper and Clover cover basic expenses over the next year - giving them some support to get through this incredibly challenging time. Your donations will help them cover costs for the funeral and logistics, as well as help them cover rent and food over the next few months as they begin to heal and hopefully can take time off work. If we receive enough donations, we'd also love for this fund to support a vacation they can take together.
