After a long day yesterday, Buddy is home and recovering from anesthesia, good news from the vet as well!

We had him thoroughly examined, a dental, and assessed.

We did have to shave a small part on his neck area under his collar as there is still a spot where the wound hasn't healed.
We are keeping a close eye on it along with keeping it clean and giving it air to breath. So no collar for Buddy until that's healed.

His dental went smoothly, there is still one canine that maybe problematic in the future but as long as he doesn't break it further shouldn't be an issue. At this point it cannot be removed without causing more damage than good. His teeth indicated he's 7-8yrs old.

We are happy to report that we did not find bbs/pellets! This was one of our biggest concerns.

Unfortunately Buddy is showing signs of hip dysplasia, he will be on long term pain management/meds starting today. We are working closely with our vet to make sure he's on the right meds to make him feel better.

Buddy is also about 75% blind, it's assumed he can see blurred shapes/shadows but not much else from that. Caution must be taken while food is involved as he doesn't understand the difference between the shadow of a hand vs a treat/food because he smells the food he just can't see it well.

He is still underweight and we are working to deworm him and help up his weight slowly now that we have a proper weight of 58lbs.

He will be looking for the perfect place to call home, preferably someone with experience with caring for an older dog and understanding that old dogs can learn new tricks but sometimes it's a slower process.

Hello, we are fundraising for the animals at Cloud 9 Acres Husky & Kitty Rescue, specifically for the newest intake, Buddy.

Buddy is a husky that has been through hell and back..

He was dumped with a group of dogs, a rescue up North took in many of these dogs and gave them much needed vet care, grooming and much more, as they were in very rough shape.

Buddy was taken in elsewhere, he received a lot of care but not to the same degree as the others, he has healed in some ways that would not have happened had he not been taken in.
Unfortunately Buddy still needed to see a vet and get a full assessment, he needed to be fully checked over and assessed for the pain he's in.

We have received information that some of the dogs received X-rays showing many many bbs/pellets under the skin, we still need to get him X-rayed for those and assess to see if any are of immediate concerns.... It's horrifying that some of them have pellets shot into them and we want to make sure to check Buddy for the same.

He also has pain in his rear leg and evidence of possibly broken bones, we still need to get this X-rayed to see if this is from a break of other injuries or if it's genetic.

He has broken teeth that have the nerves exposed and are painful and absolutely need extracted to relieve that pain.

He still needs to be assessed for over all pain and quality of life and to see what we can do to elevate that pain and give him a comfort pain free life.

We are working with Sirius Sled Dog Rescue to ensure Buddy gets everything he deserves and needs. These funds will be used to assess him and start working on a management plan and moving forward to give Buddy the absolute best chance.

Please consider donating to Cloud 9 Acres Husky & Kitty Rescue for Buddy. We are starting at $2,500 but anything we are able to raise goes towards Buddy's care and other dogs that need medical care in our rescue.
