Clothing Support for Rick's Son

Donation protected
Hey guys. So I started my journey in AA going on 3 years ago. I went into Promises's Club and met a man named Rick and a man named Dope Fiend Mike (super nice guy btw!). He told me he just started a meeting and asked if I'd like to be the first to join his homegroup. I immediately came up with an excuse on why I couldn't lol, but I did tell him I'd be back the following week. I don't know why, but I felt like I had to go back the next week. So I did, and I've been at that meeting every week, going on 3 years now. In those 3 years, I became very good friends with Rick. He saw me struggling, slipping in my sobriety, ending a relationship, and moving back to sober living. He also saw me finally work the steps, get the promises, and my life took off. He saw me graduate drug court, start my relationship with the love of my life, get a much better job, my own place, new cars, and the birth of our son AJ.

All of this success can be traced back to Rick starting this meeting and reeling me into it. He taught me my very first commitment in sobriety: to always keep my commitments. He yelled at me to work the steps when I started getting restless and discontent lol.

Life took a turn for Rick last year. He became homeless, living in his car with his two dogs and his son. He survived the winter, had a heart attack, and was diagnosed with cancer all while living in his car.

Rick never missed a meeting through all of that. He stayed sober through every bit of that and truly 13th stepped (died sober) his way out of this life. He taught me the importance of just showing up no matter what and trying to help someone.

So that's what I'm trying to do for Rick. I'm trying to help. Rick's son has always had his father, and now he's completely lost without him and needs all the help he can get. Rick did everything he could for him. He took care of everything for him, and now his son is completely on his own, living in a hotel, alone, for the first time ever in his life. He's just lost, and I'd have to imagine pretty scared. I spoke with his aunt, and she told me he needs clothes in the worst way. He has just 2 pairs of shorts and 5 work shirts. That's all the clothes he has. So I'm trying to raise money so we can take him clothes shopping. Anything would be greatly appreciated, and it would help me say thank you to Rick one last time for everything he taught me.
