As a parent, there is nothing more important to me than giving my daughter every opportunity to succeed—and Mekiya has truly made the most of every opportunity she’s been given.

The beginning of her life was not easy, but she has defied the odds and risen above every challenge placed in front of her. Her strength, resilience, and determination have shaped her into the young woman she is today.

I have worked tirelessly over the years—often holding multiple jobs—to provide a stable and supportive environment so she could focus on her education and future. Watching her grow and persevere has been one of my greatest blessings.

Mekiya didn’t just meet expectations—she exceeded them.

She graduated as Valedictorian in her junior year, a reflection of her dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to her goals.

I am incredibly proud to share that my daughter has been accepted into Howard University—a prestigious HBCU known for developing leaders, changemakers, and voices that shape our communities. She is honored and excited about the opportunity to become a Bison.

While she will receive financial aid and a generous scholarship offer, there is still a remaining annual balance of approximately $28,000. As her parent, I am doing everything I can—including submitting a financial aid appeal and exploring every available option—but this gap is more than I can manage alone.

I am humbly asking for support to help my daughter take this next step.
