My name is Shehab El-Beshbishi. I am a first-generation Egyptian student at STEM High School for Boys – 6th of October, one of the most rigorous public high schools in Egypt. I have been accepted to Stetson University for Fall 2026 to study Computer Science and Pre-Engineering. My school record includes a 3.70/4.00 GPA, a 1460 SAT, and a top-1%-national admission result to Egypt’s STEM school system.
I have been awarded scholarships worth $80,000 per year, covering nearly all of my educational expenses. I have already paid my enrollment deposit. However, I still need to raise $7,000 to cover the final remaining costs needed to make this opportunity possible: the last $4,000 of my university cost of attendance, along with my flight ticket, visa expenses, and medical insurance. The deadline is May 1, 2026.
Why I am asking for help:
In Egypt’s current economic climate, raising this amount in such a short time is extremely difficult for my family. Even after earning substantial scholarships, the remaining amount is still a major burden when converted into Egyptian pounds. This fundraiser is for the final step only: not for luxury, not for extras, but for the essential costs standing between me and an opportunity I have worked very hard to earn.
This opportunity means far more to me than simply studying abroad. It is the result of years of work, sacrifice, and persistence. As a first-generation student, reaching this point has required not only academic effort, but also faith from my family and constant discipline from me. Being admitted to Stetson was never guaranteed, and receiving this level of support from the university made me feel that all the years of work had truly led somewhere. Now, I am trying to secure the final amount needed to actually get there.
A few things about me:
I am not only a student who studies for grades. I have spent much of high school trying to build things that matter and help others grow. I co-founded Quantastra, where we created Arabic science content that reached more than 450,000 views and built an audience of over 5,000 followers.
I also co-founded PhIGA (Physics International Gamified Adventure), an international physics competition that attracted 1,211 participants from 35+ countries in its first year, with an ambassador network of more than 500 ambassadors and partnerships that provided major prizes and software access.
Beyond that, I have mentored students in physics, engineering, capstone research, and scientific writing. I helped coach students through structured sessions, supported younger students’ projects, and worked in educational spaces where I could pass on what I had learned.
Academically, I have also been fortunate to earn recognition in competitive and research settings, including placing 1st in Africa and 23rd worldwide in the Online Physics Olympiad Open 2025, earning a full scholarship to the Indigo Research Program, and ranking among the top students in several national and international physics competitions.
How your support would help:
Your donation would not simply help cover expenses. It would help complete the last step of a path I have already fought hard to walk. It would help turn admission into arrival. And if you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also mean a great deal to me.
Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for believing in a student who is trying to carry a hard-earned opportunity all the way to the finish line.
