Modern Deadly Epidemic
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the epidemic of "lifestyle diseases causes a much greater public health threat than any other epidemic known to man.” In fact, lifestyle diseases such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes that have spread like pandemics cause about 38 million deaths and about 16 million premature deaths worldwide each year. And they are rapidly increasing! What's unfortunate is that 95% of these 'lifestyle diseases' can be prevented.
Indefinite Fasting and Praying
I myself was one of these lifestyle disease patients who wished to die because I was so sick in my twenties due to Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis. Although I received numerous treatments for more than a decade, all treatments were ineffectual and I became worse and more disabled. At the end of 1981, I could not afford to live with the pain any longer, so I went up a mountain and started indefinite fasting and praying. If God were alive and listening to my prayers, a way to live would be opened, or I would starve to death.
After many days of fasting and praying, God enlightened me through a book of Ellen G. White. It was incredibly simple! The bad habits of modern people, which became so different from the way God originally planned for humans, brought these lifestyle diseases to me and many others. The path of true healing that I encountered was unbelievably close to us!
For the past thirty-five years, my concern for people suffering has led me to study for a master’s and doctorate degree courses in Health Education. I was awarded the President's Award and the Minister of Health and Welfare Award for health education services to the Korean public. I received permanent residency from the U.S. government through an EB-1 (Extraordinary Ability Visa) as a specialist in public health. I promote health education projects with my wife (nutritionist) and my daughter (graphic designer) along with a number of supporters, through our non-profit organization, ‘Future Health Education Services’. 
Publishing 2 Books
Recently, I wrote two books based on my long experience in research, education and fighting against illnesses. The book entitled, "The Closest Healing," suggests the causes of lifestyle illnesses and shows the path of healing. It shows that the true path to healing and health is very close, just as I have remarkably recovered from my incurable disease. The other book entitled, 'Look Beyond & Rejoice,’ introduces the best strategies to overcome trials and promote health and happiness. It conveys ways to transform stress, depression, and fear into peace, gratitude, and joy.

Now, we begin fundraising for the “The Closest Healing", English edition. We plan to publish this book in the summer of 2019. The global damage caused by the 'Lifestyle diseases' epidemic is so great that we plan to distribute e-books free of charge for anyone to read when published.

현대판 전염병 재앙
세계보건기구(WHO)는 발표하였기를, 세계는 지금 역사상 "사람들에게 알려진 어떤 다른 전염병보다 훨씬 더 큰 공중보건 위협을 야기시키는” 전염병 재앙이 퍼지고 있다고 하며, 이 전염병을 ‘생활습관질환’이라고 하였습니다. 사실, 심장병, 암, 뇌졸중, 당뇨병과 같은 생활습관병이 전염병과 같이 퍼져서 세계적으로 매년 약 3,800만명이 죽고 1,600만명이 조기사망하고 있습니다. 그리고, 그것은 급증하고 있습니다! 암은 지난 40년 동안 급격하게 증가하여 이제 거의 2명 중 1명이 암에 걸리는 시대가 되었습니다. 그런데, 정말 안타까운 일은 이런 ‘생활습관질환’ 가운데 95%는 예방할 수 있다는 사실입니다.
무기한 금식기도
저 자신이 생활습관질환 중의 하나이고 관절염의 일종인 강직성척추염으로 인해 20대에 너무 고통스러워서 차라리 죽기를 바랬습니다. 10대부터 10년 이상 수많은 치료를 받았지만, 소용이 없었고 더 악화되고 점차 더 불구자가 되어 갔습니다. 1981년 말, 도저히 더 살 수가 없어서 산에 올라가서 무기한 금식기도를 시작했습니다. 하나님이 살아계셔서 기도를 들어주시면 살길이 열리고 아니면 굶어서 죽고자 하였습니다.
여러 날 금식기도한 후에 하나님께서 빛을 비추어주셨습니다. 원래 하나님께서 인간을 위해 계획하셨던 생활양식과는 너무나 많이 달라진 현대인들의 나쁜 생활습관이 나와 또 다른 많은 현대인들에게 생활습관질환을 가져다 주었다는 것입니다. 그래서, 저는 식생활을 현미 채식으로 바꾸는 등 생활습관을 전반적으로 바꾸었을 때, 시간이 지나면서 통증이 사라지고 기적적으로 제 병이 낫게 되었습니다. 무기한 금식기도의 결과로 만난 참된 치유의 길은 믿을 수 없이 가까이 있었습니다! 그것을 깨달은 후 그것을 알지 못하여 이전의 전과 같이 방황하고 고통당하는 많은 병자들을 생각하며 안타까움으로 밤에 잠을 잘 자지 못했습니다.
지난 삼십여년간 그와 같이 견딜 수 없는 심령이 저 자신을 이끌었고, 로마린다대학교 건강교육학 석사와 박사 과정을 거치게 하였습니다. 저는 한국에서는 한국인을 위한 건강교육으로 대통령 표창과 보건복지부 장관상을 받았고, 미국정부로부터 공중보건사업을 위한 특수능력소지자로 영주권을 받았습니다. 지금은 비영리단체 ‘미래건강교육서비스’ 대표로 아내 이정라 영양사와 그래픽 디자이너 딸과 여러 조력자들과 함께 건강교육사업을 추진하고 있습니다.  
2권의 책 출판
얼마 전, 저는 그 동안의 오랜 투병, 연구, 교육 경험들을 가지고 현대인의 고통을 덜어주고 행복과 건강과 성공적인 삶으로 이끄는 책 2권을 집필하였습니다. 책 『가장 가까운 치유』는 생활습관질환의 원인과 치유의 길을 제시하고, 제 불치병이 놀랍게 치유 회복된 것과 같이 참된 치유와 건강의 길은 아주 가까이 있음을 알려 드립니다. 몸에 부담을 주는 원인을 제거하고 건강한 생활습관으로 바꾸면, 대부분 병은 저절로 사라지게 됩니다. 책 『너머 보고 기뻐하라』는 스트레스, 우울증, 두려움을 평안, 감사, 기쁨으로 변화시킬 수 있는 길을 전하고, 시련을 극복하고 건강과 행복을 증진시키는 최상의 전략을 소개합니다.
