Clive with unexpected medical costs due to cancer diagnosis

Hi,
My name is Lottie and I am hoping to help raise some money towards my amazing dad Clive Ventham’s surgery cost.
We have recently received the upsetting news that my dad has been diagnosed with locally advanced prostate cancer. Anyone who knows my dad will know how fit and healthy he is, so this came as a huge shock to us all.
He was not symptomatic and went for a routine examination which indicated high PSA level. After an agonising couple of weeks of numerous scans/tests and waiting for results, and a bit of a scare that it may of spread further, we were told the tumour is contained within the prostate but is very close to the edge and therefore high risk of spreading. Even though dad is on hormone therapy, the surgeon and oncologist could not guarantee that it would not spread in the wait for surgery on the NHS (approx 4-5 months). Mum and dad therefore made the decision to have the surgery privately, as it felt like too much of a risk to wait.
We are so grateful to a very kind friend of dad’s who helped with the immediate private healthcare costs so everything could be processed in such a timely manner. My dad has his surgery tomorrow (Weds 11th December)! We are, however, keen to repay this incredible gesture as soon as possible.
True to form, Dad is already planning charity fundraisers for ‘Prostate Cancer UK’ in the form of, yes… you guessed it, football matches next year when he is recovered! He is so selfless and is so keen to spread awareness. Had he of not gone for his routine exam a couple of months ago, we dread to think of the position we may have been in in the years to come.
Clive is an incredible husband, dad, brother, grandad, uncle, team mate and friend to so many. He is so touched and grateful for all of the amazing messages of support he has gotten over the last few weeks. As a family, we are also so humbled and appreciative of people asking if they could support or fundraise to help financially with the repayment towards his surgery cost. We did not expect this at all!
This is why I decided to make this page, so people can contribute if they wish to, although we know it is a tricky time financially for people. Any words of support and love are also so gratefully recieved as dad rests up and recovers after his surgery. It also serves as a reminder to book in all those routine exams that just slip our minds on a day to day basis!
We do not know what the future holds in terms of treatment etc but we do know the surgeon and oncologist feel very certain that this surgery, alongside potential of some chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, will cure.
Thank you so much for reading.
We love you to the moon and back dad/grandad ❤️
