Clint Bullard’s Rehabilitation
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Christine Sullivan and I am the oldest sister to two brothers whom I’d do anything for. My family received a big shock the night of Wednesday August 9th when my middle brother, Clinton Bullard, showed up on my mother’s doorstep asking for help to get clean and go to rehab.
If anyone knows my family and our story, then you understand the surprise and the huge amount of relief we felt to see him again. If you don’t know his story then I’ll be brief:
Clint has been homeless for more than 7 years while he battled his own demons with hard drugs after succumbing to peer pressure from ones he thought loved him. His story is long and much more complex than any words can write here, but all that matters is he finally has walked back into our lives and has a true desire to get clean this time.
This first step for him was difficult, and unfortunately we were also finding out just how hard it can be to help someone who wants to get clean without insurance and/or money. My family spent over 12 hours calling around to inpatient rehabilitation centers and even drove to a center in Dallas that turned him away. At one point, the feeling of despair seemed to be all we had. Each call had a similar outcome: long waitlist, couldn’t help someone with his specific substance abuse, no open beds, or receptionist refused to be helpful.
Finally one place gave us a list of recommendations that led us to find Valley Hope of Grapevine who offered us their 30 day inpatient program. This was our saving grace as it was immediately recognizable that they truly want to help and care for their patients. With an instant promise of a bed with his name on it, we were finally able to exhale a sigh of relief. The brief mention of cost and pricing did not matter at this point since we just needed to find him a safe place to detox.
As you may be well aware, good care does not come cheap and obviously anyone homeless does not have health insurance or money to spare. We agreed as a family to take his head on and find a way to pull together the money needed even though this is a huge financial burden on us all.
Our goal here is to lessen the financial load we are carrying to get him through this. The deposit was $7,500 and we will owe the remaining $7,000 at checkout. Understandably reaching full coverage of this total amount is far-fetched. However any help here will go directly towards the balance we owe and help us get through this trying time. Please only give what you are able and willingly while also knowing no amount of money can ensure Clint a clean and sober life. If you can’t help by donating, please consider sharing this with your family and friends. May all our prayers be with Clint while he navigates this journey in his life and hope that he can move forward as a healthy member of our family and society.
My family appreciates each and every one of you!
