Climbing Yr Wyddfa

Donation protected
Last year, my daughter Tildy and I began making plans to climb Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) together to mark the end of her time at primary school. As we hike, we would love to raise some money for the school where Tildy has been so happy. St Thomas and St Anne’s in Shropshire has taken great care of her in so many ways, especially nurturing her love of reading and writing, and we would love to raise funds to support the school library.

We’ve been taking our prep seriously, and Tildy has joined me on many a dog walk this spring, building in some 1-2 hour stretches up the Wrekin, Glyn Ceiriog and Stiperstones, to name a few.

In April, we completed our first big 4-hour hike up Cadair Idris, a 738m ascent via the Pony Path, which was great practise. We climbed through cloud for the second half of the ascent, making a cold and eerie approach to the peak, but the view cleared as we sat to have our lunch, making all the hard work worthwhile! We also made a note to pack our hats and gloves next time…

Now we're busy preparing for our next hike on May 27th in the Yorkshire Dales: a 6-hour stretch this time climbing two peaks, Buckden Pike and Great Whernside - we will let you know how we get on!

After this, the date for Yr Wyddfa is set for June 28th! We'll be following our climb with a rest at our favourite lakeside campsite at Llyn Gwynant.

If you would like to cheer us on our way, and feel able to make a donation of any size, big or small, we would be delighted. We both hope it will make a difference for all the St Thomas and St Anne’s families yet to come.
