Climbing towards the Light!
Tax deductible
One month to go until I hit the big “60”. Instead of worrying about getting older, I have decided to climb my first 14,000 feet peak in Colorado on October 7. My goal is to raise awareness around the mental health crisis affecting our young people right now.
After teaching and coaching for the past thirty five years in Delaware, I have witnessed firsthand the lack of resources for young people to receive the proper treatment. According to the Wall Street Journal, death by suicide has risen dramatically since 2020. Also, depression and anxiety rates have skyrocketed in the past few years.
Mental illness does not discriminate. I have loved ones that have battled this illness but have prevailed. This climb represents all of them and the countless other people who continue to push forward.
Joining me on my climb will be my husband Bill, along with my two kids Will and Kailyn. As a special treat, my nephew and niece Brett and Grace are coming as well. All the money we raise will be donated to,”The Unlocke the Light Foundation '', a local organization dedicated to helping young people with counseling and a place to go in order to find their way out of their own darkness.
Let’s do this together! Here is the link for my GoFundMe page. Also, included is information about the foundation. Thanks for all the support.
