Firstly, Khush’s Mother-in-Law, Kamla, was diagnosed with an uncommon and incurable form of cancer, called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma in April this year. Kamla needs life-saving cancer treatment as there is no treatment available in the UK to help her. After spending much time as a family researching into treatments for this type of cancer and connecting with other patients’ experiences, Khush and her family discovered a treatment which is available for her in Germany. Kamla will now be travelling to Germany to undergo treatment this year and the money we raise will go towards her treatment. So, any support and help provided would allow her to receive the treatment she needs, in hope that she has a cancer free future!
Secondly, we would love to raise money for Great Oaks Hospice in The Forest of Dean. Mehdi’s mother, Farida, was fortunate enough to make regular visits to Great Oaks when she was suffering from breast cancer. The hospice offered Farida the opportunity to get involved in poetry reading, making cards and other activities which she looked forward to each month. The hospice needs £600,000 each year to fund its services and with only 15% donation from the NHS, the rest is generated through its shops, fundraising, grants and legacies. This makes it ever more important that we support such a fantastic organisation and would mean so much to Mehdi if we could remember his mother in this way.
To recognise the fundraising effort, as a team we’ll be climbing Snowdon on 7th September so we hope you’ll get behind us and support our fundraising.
Thank you so much from all of us!
(Khush, Mehdi, Katie, Amber, Ian, Claire , Dan & Sharon)
