Climbing Snowdon for WestWarriorsMND
Donation protected
My name is Charlotte, and in April of this year my dad was diagnosed with a terminal disease called Motor Neurone Disease. MND progressively makes day to day tasks such as walking, eating, and talking, difficult - eventually losing the ability to function and breathe. This is a big change for my dad, a seasoned marathon runner, as well as my whole family. Adjusting to this has been beyond hard with daily changes to his condition giving us a new “normal” each day. Something I wouldn’t be able to cope with, without amazing friends like Ellie. Ellie is one of my best friends and has been since my first year of uni in 2019. She is the most supportive person I have ever met always showing up for me when I need it most.
To raise money to help my dad live comfortably and make lasting memories whilst we can, we have been getting miles in. We aim to reach 2025 miles for our total before the end of the year. We’ve been slowly plodding away in all our different ways but Ellie suggested ticking off another chunk by climbing Snowdon! So of course I said yes and here we are! The 17th July we will take on Snowdon - to most and to us might take a little bit of effort, but to someone with MND would be an impossible challenge.
The target is set at £500 but any money - whether it’s £5 or £20 towards our fundraiser really makes a massive impact on our lives. Unfortunately a lot of treatment for MND is expensive, the MNDA are there to help but there's extra things which have extra costs and helping us as a family to make memories with our dad whilst we have the chance.
Thank you in advance for any support - it means the world.
