Climbing Snowdon For Southampton Neurological Centre

I'm raising money in aid of Wessex Neurological Centre Trust who saved my little brothers life in 2022.

On the 12th January 2022, my brother Liam, was hit by a car on his way to college. Liam was just 16 years old at the time of his accident and was put in a coma at the roadside. He was rushed down to Southampton Hospital where professionals were unsure if Liam was going to survive.

Liam had a fractured skull, three brain bleeds, ACL knee damage, broken ribs, orbital socket fracture, a punctured lung, broken collar bone and severely broke the whole of his right arm which damaged his radial nerve, stopping him being able to use his arm for 7 months after. Liam was in his coma for 17 days. For 17 days, it was touch and go.

After numerous operations and treatments, Southampton Hospital saved Liam’s life and helped him on his road to recovery. Liam’s rehabilitation took 2 years with the amazing help and support from the hospital.

We wouldn’t have the strong, funny, young man we do today if it wasn’t for them. Liam has passed his driving test and has recently started an apprenticeship as an electrician. Things we were unsure he would ever be able to do.

We were one of the lucky families. Even though the accident is in our past, there are other people in the position we were 2 years ago who this amazing hospital are aiding back to health.

I will be climbing Mount Snowdon on the 28th September 2024 for this charity.
