Climbing Pen y Fan for Ukraine’s Youngest Victims

On Saturday, 13th September 2025, I will take on the challenge of ascending Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales and one of the most gruelling training grounds, as used by the British Special and other Elite Forces.
This challenge comes with a vital purpose.
I’m raising funds exclusively to provide emergency baby milk, food, and medical supplies for babies and young children caught in the devastating conflict in Ukraine. Funds riased are going to The Rotary Club of Whitstable (1023624 - Charity Commission) who will direct funds specifically to child care and support.

Why This Matters

I was recently confronted with the heartbreaking truth about the situation facing mothers and children in war-torn parts of Ukraine. Despite the conflict slipping from the headlines, its impact on the most vulnerable continues — largely unseen and unheard.
Through friends working tirelessly on the ground — all on a voluntary and charitable basis — I’ve come to understand just how desperate the situation is. They are delivering aid directly to those in need, and the stories they’ve shared are deeply distressing. In many regions, aid has been withdrawn as the desperation for funds forces heartbreaking decisions for many charities.
Babies are malnourished. Families and orphanages are struggling to access basic nutrition and medical support. Essential supplies like infant formula are simply not available in many cities under siege or devastated by war.
As a parent to five children, I cannot imagine the anguish of not being able to feed your baby or give your child the care they need to survive. It’s a reality no parent should face.

The Challenge

Pen y Fan rises 886 metres (2,907 feet) above the Brecon Beacons and is renowned for its harsh terrain, unpredictable weather, and steep climbs. It’s a physically demanding ascent, famously used as the proving ground for elite military forces.
I’m undertaking this climb in the belief that every child deserves the right to nourishment and care.

How Can You Help?

Every penny raised through this challenge will go directly towards purchasing life-saving baby milk, food, and medical supplies — distributed by trusted volunteers already working in Ukraine.
Funds raised will go directly to the Rotary Club of Whitstable Charitable Trust. All that we raise will exclusively support orphanages, shelters, and the care of mothers and children, the innocent victims in this terrible saga.
If you can, please donate here by clicking the link. Whether it’s the cost of a coffee or something more, your support will make a difference. Please feel free to share or forward this email onto others. My hope is to make a difference.

It is truly appreciated!

Thank you.
