I'm glad to have been asked to be part of a team from Huntsville climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in February in support of cancer research at HudsonAlpha through the PTEN Foundation. This is an important organization based in Huntsville with a mission for helping those with rare genetic conditions and we will be hiking to raise awareness and funds for their work. PTEN supports patients with PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndrome (PHTS) through education, patient programs, and advancing research initiatives. PHTS arises due to a mutation of the PTEN gene putting patients at high risk of developing multiple types of cancer. PHTS is an under-diagnosed hereditary cancer syndrome and I appreciate any support you can provide.
